Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce is not “off,” contrary to a new tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop has exclusively learned that while it’s true the split hasn’t been legally finalized, it’s not true that a reconciliation is on the horizon.

The inaccurate announcement is featured on the new cover of Us Weekly, which blares, “Angie & Brad: The Divorce Is Off!” The tabloid promises that it has “inside” knowledge on the “incredible story of how they’re fighting for their marriage, family & love.” Inside the edition, the headline goes even further, declaring, “Angie’s Still In Love With Brad.” The gossip magazine contends, “Nearly a year after she filed to end her union with Pitt, Jolie is rethinking her strategy. Now, says a source, the divorce is on hold.”

“The divorce is off,” that so-called “source” claims to the outlet. “They haven’t done anything to move it forward in several months and no one thinks they are ever going to… She’s still so in love with him.” The supposed snitch goes on to assert, “She still has feelings for him and now that the anger has gone down a little, she’s starting to realize that again. She’s not fully over him.”

The publication further claims Jolie’s “change of heart coincided with Pitt’s own about-face,” noting that “his decision to improve himself” by giving up drinking “warmed Jolie.” And with the divorce allegedly in “limo,” the tabloid’s “source” maintains, “Everyone thinks they are going to get back together. It wouldn’t be surprising if they announced that they’re calling it off and trying to work things out.” But this cover story and its allegations are notably one-sided.

The magazine repeatedly contends Jolie is having second thoughts, but never once says Pitt is also considering a reunion. And Gossip Cop is told he isn’t, and the couple is not on the verge of getting “back together.” They are still in the process of getting divorced, we’re exclusively assured, and it’s far-fetched, say those in the know, that after Jolie’s scorched-earth approach in the immediate aftermath of the breakup that they would be reconciling.

One of our contacts also questions the timing of this cover story, as it comes after Jolie’s controversial Vanity Fair interview, and wonders whether she is trying to change the direction of the conversation surrounding her. Gossip Cop also reached out to reps for both Jolie and Pitt for comment.

It’s also worth noting that Us Weekly is not a reliable outlet when it comes to reporting on these two stars given that it ran a false cover story last month wrongly claiming Pitt was “secretly dating” Sienna Miller. Notably, that supposed relationship isn’t mentioned anywhere in this new article about reuniting with Jolie.
