'No Time to Die' Release Date, Cast, Trailer Date, Plot: Everything You Need to Know About the New Bond Movie - Newsweek

The first full-length trailer for the 25th James Bond film No Time to Die is coming on December 4, giving 007 fans their first proper look at Daniel Craig's last movie as the MI6 agent.

The promo will give fans their first glimpse of new cast members like Rami Malek, Ana de Armas and Lashana Lynch, provide the first look of the movie's plot, as well as giving us a few lines from the script co-written by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

When is No Time to Die out?

The release date for Bond 25 has now been set for April 3, 2020 in the U.K. and April 8 in the U.S. This follows two release date pushbacks due to production troubles. When the film was due to be directed by Trainspotting director Danny Boyle, it was due to come out on November 8, but when he left the project due to "creative differences," the release was first pushed back to Valentine's Day before finally being slated for April 2020.

By the time No Time to Die is released, it will be five years since the last Bond film, 2015's Spectre. This is the longest gap between Bond films since the six years between 1989's Licence to Kill and 1995's Goldeneye.

Who is in the cast of No Time to Die?

Most of the MI6 team that has been established across Daniel Craig's four previous films as Bond will be returning for potentially the last time. They include Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner and Ben Whishaw as Q.

Also returning to help 007 on another mission is Blue is the Warmest Color's Lea Seydoux, reprising her role as psychiatrist Dr. Madeleine Swann from Spectre, plus Westworld's Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, Bond's ally in the CIA.

Joining No Time to Die as its so-called Bond girls are Knives Out's Ana de Armas as Paloma and Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch as Nomi. Speaking about her character, de Armas told The Hollywood Reporter: "She's got this bubbliness of someone who is excited to be on a mission, but she plays with this ambiguity—you don't really know if she's like a really trained, prepared partner for Bond." Nomi, meanwhile, is rumoured to be the agent who is given the 007 designation following Bond's retirement. She said of the character to THR, "I didn't want someone who was slick. I wanted someone who was rough around the edges and who has a past and a history and has issues with her weight and maybe questions what's going on with her boyfriend."

The bad guy, meanwhile, is Safin, played by the Oscar-winning star of Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek. Producer Barbara Broccoli told Empire of the character, "He is really the supervillain. He's the one that really gets under Bond's skin. He's a nasty piece of work." THR also claimed that Christoph Waltz will be back as the series' ultimate supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, after playing the role in Spectre.

What will happen in No Time to Die?

The official plot synopsis, as reported by 007.com, reads: "Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology."

Among the filming locations for Bond 25 were Jamaica, Italy, Norway, Scotland and London, suggesting the new movie will be as globetrotting as the rest of the franchise. Aston Martin has also confirmed that its long-standing relationship with the Bond franchise will continue, with their classic DB5, as well as the V8 Vantage and Valhalla models, all featuring in the film.

The first full trailer arrives on YouTube on December 4, with a 15-second teaser prior to that giving fans their first glimpse. This teaser features lots of classic Bond moments, with Daniel Craig appearing in a suit and sunglasses and at one point an Aston Martin DB5's headlights open to reveal machine guns, a reference to the first time the car appeared in the franchise, 1964's Goldfinger.

The teaser trailer also gives us our first look at Nomi, seen in a sports car in sunglasses, and Paloma, seen firing two submachine guns. Fans will have to wait, however, to get a peek at Malek's villainous character.

No Time to Die is released in April 2020.
