Temperatures rise after this morning's coldest low of winter to date - WQOW TV News 18

It was Eau Claire's coldest morning of this winter so far and only the 5th below zero with a low of -13 and as cold as -18 in other parts of Western Wisconsin.

Temperatures have risen to the single digits above zero, and they'll remain there tonight for most of the Chippewa Valley. Temperatures should actually rise a couple degrees to the low teens by morning and continue to the upper 20s by afternoon, which is slightly above the 26 degree average high.

Starting Friday, highs will be well into the 30s and possibly near 40 through the middle of next week. Lows will be very moderate, too, at times near the average high in the mid 20s.

This warmth also comes during a dry stretch, with our next snow chances not coming until Christmas night.

However, with highs above freezing and lows below, we will have to watch for black ice as snow melts during the days and freezes during the nights. Other than that, this looks to be a great holiday week.
